5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Give Up Your Job Search Over Christmas

Dec 05, 2020

Being a job seeker is hard enough, what more being a job seeker during Christmas break and in a middle of a pandemic. Not only do you need to search for work and show up to job interviews, you are also expected to give gifts and attend parties. All these could really make you tempted to just delay your job search and promise yourself to start until the New Year. It would not hurt to do so, but thinking about all those opportunities that you could be getting? You just can't simply ignore all the possibilities! So, you must fight though all your temptations and keeps striving for your chance to finally get accepted in to your dream job position.

The Christmas season is fast approaching and we are still in a middle of a pandemic. However, that should not stop you from getting those potential job offers and getting extra income just in time to get gifts for your friends and family during the holiday season. Here are reasons why you should not give up your job search over Christmas.

Job seeking can be less competitive during the holiday season.

Take full advantage of the time while others are on a break! You are not alone when you are contemplating on waiting until the New Year to start your job search. It's not going to be a surprise if that is what everyone else would be doing. So, that’s your call to get ahead of the competition! When the month of January comes around, you don't need to deal with highly enthusiastic competitors. Go ahead and update your resume or CV and tailor them depending on what specific position you are going to apply for. In this way, you would have greater advantage in landing a job interview.

Everyone is in a jolly and merry mood!

Let people’s Christmas spirit work its magic on you. Since it is the season of giving, it is positive that what they mean by that is giving opportunities too! Take advantage of the joy in the air where people seem to be much more generous during this time of the year. Make sure to greatly focus on the networking aspect and work in to getting yourself a schedule on interviews. This time of the year will also most likely be less stressful because of less work demands and some would be willing to extend their help to you as much as they can because they will have more time to do so.

There are companies that are still hiring and they need you.

Just because it is the holiday season doesn’t mean that companies will completely stop hiring. More companies actually do need seasonal employees and hire full time employees before the new year starts. You would not want to miss the chance on become one of those! Employers would prefer to get on with hiring applicants over the holidays. So, by the time Christmas is over, regular work schedule can resume without rushing to work on looking for candidates last minute.

Opportunities through networking is endless.

Companies like Nezda and a huge percentage of employers are using social media to screen candidates during the hiring process nowadays. So, you better get on that too! We all know that we are in a middle of a pandemic and we wouldn't even dare to go on parties and extend our network. So, maximize the use of your social media accounts and broaden your network that way.

Start your New Year with a bang!

You would not want to start the year regretting what decisions you could have made early on. Once you land a spot on a position you’re satisfied with, you will have more reasons to be thankful forEnd 2020 with a positive note and start off your year fresh and motivated where you can say “New year new beginnings!” (and for real this time)

The holiday season is the perfect time to just give yourself a well-deserved break from the chaos that is 2020. It is completely valid if you choose to do so, but if you truly do not want to spend your holidays with a new job and start the new year feeling accomplished, this time of the year will be the perfect time to find a new job. You don’t necessarily need to devote your entire Christmas break to the job search, just make sure to not stress yourself too much and make to spend your holidays with your loved ones

All these would be possible with Nezda!
