WOMEN CAN ALSO #DOIT!

Gender inequality is a problem in many industries and Information Technology (IT) seems to be one of the manliest industries, but this is slowly changing. Despite the cliché, they don’t just work in HR, marketing, or management—they hire top women in all departments, including design and development.

There are many obstacles a woman faces when pursuing a career in programming or any other mobile or web development field. And fighting them can be exhausting. The technology sector is already developed, but slow and rigid.

The gender pay gap in tech is said to be smaller than in other industries, but it still exists. Women working in IT companies feel that they have to prove themselves to their colleagues and bosses over and over again, but are paid less for the same work. It’s the cause, and why women are more likely to quit tech jobs than men. When it comes to fledgling startups, men are more likely to ask male friends to join them than females. Recruiters like to give jobs to people with similar interests and worldviews. In a tech industry where women workers are understated, men are more likely to be leaders and employees of tech companies, dramatically unequal opportunities for the opposite sex.

Research shows that male-dominated companies care less about gender diversity. This is wrong because eliminating these inequalities creates a better working environment for everyone. In such a workplace, there is less discrimination and the need to constantly prove oneself is lessen.

Apparently, when a woman takes the lead in a brand in the tech industry, she scores significantly higher on first and last fundraising, with her at 64% and her at 49% respectively. Female employees involved in website and app development should make better decisions and be more creative. And those are definitely qualities that any team can benefit from. Women tend to bring better communication skills, inspiring ideas, and better morals to the table, which companies in the tech sector should appreciate.

First and foremost, we need to address gender diversity in all workplaces, not just the tech industry. Women need equal opportunities to climb the career ladder and reach leadership positions. Only then we can experience all the benefits of each gender in our daily work.

Proper evaluation and monitoring of all employees is required. It recognizes workers who demonstrate leadership and progress to not only prevent women in tech from leaving their jobs, but also to suggest new ways to get a promotion, a raise, or accelerate career growth.

The most important change we have to see is the way our society thinks. Preconceptions and unjust stereotypes about women must end. This means not only accepting women in tech companies, but giving them the same conditions to work, learn and thrive in the workplace.
